Welcome to Year 2

Sycamore Class and Maple Class

We follow an engaging creative curriculum which empowers children to reach their full potential. Our aim is to develop children as life- long learners and enable them to develop a love for learning. Our topic this term is The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch and we will be teaching most of our subjects around this topic.

Throughout the year we will work to deepen children’s understanding of the skills needed to be a competent learner through our 7 Learning Powers, Growth Mindset and the 4 E's. 

It is important that your child reads daily at home with an adult, even if it is only for 5 minutes. Please comment and sign on the ‘home’ page when you have read together. Children will learn how to sign their own reading record when reading independently in class, please encourage your children to do this also. We will hear your children read once weekly and sign their reading record. Please let us know if you could offer your time to come in and hear readers. 

Children will complete a Speedy Spelling quiz once a week as well as a Speedy Spider times table sheet.
