Governors

 Meet the Governors

A big Welcome to the Governors’ page

Helping Morgans to deliver its vision of nurturing life-long learning.

The role of the school Governor is a very valuable and rewarding one but often one that is misunderstood.

We do not manage the day-to-day running of the school, that is the responsibility of the headteacher and senior leadership team, instead we oversee the strategic development of the school.

Our main aim is to always ensure that a high standard of education is available to every single one of the pupils

We do this by focusing on three core responsibilities.

We………

  • ensure that our school has a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction
  • hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of the staff
  • oversee the financial performance of the school, making sure we get value for money and stay in budget.

A very valued member of the board is the parent governor who is to communicate a parent's perspective

It's a fine line to tread but a parent governor’s job is not to speak on behalf of parents but to use their perspective to help the board understand a parent's viewpoint.

This helps us to make good decisions and maintain a link between governance and the parent community.

There are two full governing board meetings a term (three in the autumn term), either in the evening from 7.00-9.00, or in the mornings during school time, from 9.30 to 11.30.

The structure of the board

Here are details of how our Governing body is structured, the names, roles and responsibilities of current governors.
