Extra curricular music at Morgans is a thriving community. The choir is open to anyone in years 4-6 and we are renowned in the Hertford and Ware area for being one of the biggest and strongest primary school choirs. We perform in two major concerts every year; one at All Saints' church at Christmas and one in the spring term at Ware Drill Hall. Both of these are in collaboration with the Hertford and Ware schools' music partnership and we rehearse independently for the combined schools concerts, where we all perform as a whole choir. We do get to showcase ourselves in our individual items, however!
As well as this, we perform in our own school concerts including the Christingle, Harvest assembly, our own version of the combined schools spring concert cantata and our summer music concert. We are also sometimes invited to perform with adult choirs in their Christmas concerts, such as the QC Chamber choir or Hertford Choral Society.
We have an active ukulele club within the school and even our very own band, where the children arrange music themselves to play as a group. This year, they are comprised of drums, guitar, piano, brass and vocals and are working on a Jonny Cash number!
The children are given the option of a variety of music lessons if they wish to choose to play an instrument. We offer the choice of piano, guitar, wind, brass, drums, vocal and strings. Year 3 are also given the opportunity to learn the recorder as part of their standard class music lessons.
Every year group has the chance to perform in plays and shows at different points in the year. These range from a collection of songs to extended assemblies to straight plays to full scale children's musicals.
