Extra curricular music at Morgans is a thriving community. The children are given the option of a variety of music lessons if they wish to choose to play an instrument. We offer the choice of piano, guitar, wind, brass, drums, vocal and strings. Year 3 are also given the opportunity to learn the recorder as part of their standard class music lessons. If you are interested in taking music lessons at school, please enquire at the School Office.
We have a large and successful choir at Morgans, which is open to anyone in years 4-6. We are renowned in the Hertford and Ware area for being one of the biggest and strongest primary school choirs. We perform in two major concerts every year; one at All Saints' church at Christmas and one in the spring term at Ware Drill Hall. Both of these are in collaboration with the Hertford and Ware schools' music partnership and we rehearse independently for the combined schools concerts, where we all perform as a whole choir. We do get to showcase ourselves in our individual items, however!
In addition to concerts with the wider community, we perform in our own school concerts including the Christingle, Harvest assembly, our own version of the combined schools spring concert cantata and our summer music concert. We are also sometimes invited to perform with adult choirs in their Christmas concerts, such as the QC Chamber choir or Hertford Choral Society and we often sing to the residents at Bentley House care home.
We have an active ukulele club who rehearse each Thursday, again open to pupils in Years 4-6. The club is free to join - just bring a soprano ukulele and some enthusiasm! The ukulele club play at school events such as the Winter Fair and the Summer Music Concert.
Every year group has the chance to perform in plays and shows at different points in the year. These range from a collection of songs to extended assemblies to straight plays to full scale children's musicals.
