Mr Rogers, Mrs Sales, Mrs Hanham, Mrs Eley and Mrs Thomas would like to welcome you to Year 4.
We are going to teach the curriculum in a creative way this year, learning through our topic themes wherever possible. Topics will be led by the interests of the children, and our first ones will be ‘Out There’ and ‘The Stone Age’.
PE will be taught on Monday and Wednesday, so please make sure that appropriate and named kit is in school on these days.
We are planning to use our outside area often this year, so the children will need appropriate clothing for the weather – waterproof coats/sun hats. We also ask that they have welly boots and a pair of scruffy trousers in school every day, and an old shirt for messy work in the classroom.
Home learning is sent out on a Thursday, and is due in the following Tuesday. The children are expected to complete one piece of work, alongside spellings, times tables and reading. They should read independently every day, and read with an adult at least once a week for twenty minutes. Any reading that they do should be recorded in their new reading record, where teachers will also be setting fortnightly targets. This should be signed by an adult at home each week.
If you have any questions, please do ask. The best time to catch us is after school.
We are really looking forward to a fun year of learning!
Creative Celts Lead Children Through Time!
On Thursday 9th February, Year 4 went to the Celtic Harmony Camp to be trained as warriors. It was really cold, but it was worth it for all of the fun learning.
Our favourite activities were archery, the quest, solving riddles, warrior training, making rope, face painting and trading.
We recommend the trip to other children and adults, but don't forget your welly boots and warm clothes!
