Mr Rogers, Miss Nicholls, Miss Dinsdale and Miss Castiglione would like to welcome you to Year 4.
We are going to teach the curriculum in a creative way this year, learning through our topic themes wherever possible. Our topic for the Autumn Term this year will be The Stone Age.
PE will be taught on Monday and Friday so please make sure that appropriate and named kit is in school on these days.
We are planning to use our outside area often this year, so the children will need appropriate clothing for the weather – waterproof coats/sun hats.
Home learning is sent out on a Thursday, and is due in the following Tuesday. The children are expected to choose and complete one piece of work, alongside spellings, times tables and reading. They should read independently every day, and read with an adult at least once a week for twenty minutes. The children will also bring home a copy of their Arithmetic tests as they complete them. It would be very useful if they could discuss these with you when they do come home with this. Any reading that they do should be recorded in their new reading record, where teachers will also be setting fortnightly targets. This should be signed by an adult at home each week.
If you have any questions, please do ask. The best time to catch us is after school.
We are really looking forward to a fun year of learning!
Creative Celts Lead Children Through Time!
On Thursday 9th February, Year 4 went to the Celtic Harmony Camp to be trained as warriors. It was really cold, but it was worth it for all of the fun learning.
Our favourite activities were archery, the quest, solving riddles, warrior training, making rope, face painting and trading.
We recommend the trip to other children and adults, but don't forget your welly boots and warm clothes!
