Welcome to Year 2.
The classes are as follows:
Sycamore - Miss Venosi, Mrs Bouette and Mrs Corbett
Maple - Mr Collin and Mrs Eley.
Our P.E. days are Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child has full PE kit in school every day as well as a water bottle. Please also send your child in with an art apron (an old shirt will do!) to use during our Art lessons, these will stay in school.
We follow an engaging creative curriculum which empowers children to reach their full potential. Our aim is to develop children as life- long learners and enable them to develop a love for learning. Our topic this term is The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch and we will be teaching most of our subjects around this topic.
Throughout the year we will work to deepen children’s understanding of the skills needed to be a competent learner through our 7 Learning Powers.
It is important that your child reads daily at home with an adult, even if it is only for 5 minutes. Please comment and sign on the ‘home’ page when you have read together.
Children will receive a new set of Speedy Spelling words on a Thursday, and they will be tested on these on a Tuesday. Children will also bring home a Speedy Spider times table sheet on a Friday, these need to be learned and will be tested the following Friday.
As part of each of our topics children will also receive a Home Learning Grid. This grid will contain different activities to complete at home. The activities are cross curricular and aim to support children's learning in a variety of ways such as verbal, musical, visual, interpersonal, intrapersonal, mathematical and kinaesthetic. Please read the information at the bottom of the grids to find out which activities to complete.
We will be collecting the home learning books on these dates during the Autumn term to see how you are progressing with your creative project.
Monday 30th October
Monday 27th November
Friday 8th December.
Please remember you need to complete a minimum of seven activities by Friday 8th December.
If you have any questions or concerns please do come and talk to us. The best time to do this is after school.
We look forward to the year ahead.
