Spruce class is taught by Mrs Robinson. Crab Apple Class is taught by Mrs Keen and Mrs Jones. Our teaching assistants are Mrs Haywood and Mrs Whiting.
In Reception we follow the Revised Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, learning through play. We have lots of lovely resources in our classroom and outdoor area so we are always busy learning and playing together.
During the year we will be learning through lots of fun and play and we will be covering many topics that your children are interested in. We enjoy learning in our classrooms and also using our outside area – so please make sure children always have suitable clothing in school.
Spruce will be doing PE every Tuesday morning, followed by library. Their welly walks will be on a Thursday afternoon.
Crab Apple will be doing PE every Wednesday morning followed by library. Their welly walks will be on a Friday morning.
If any parents or grandparents have any spare time and feel that they could come and help us in our classroom it would be much appreciated. We love having people in to help and join in all the activities that we do in Reception.
Please see the class teachers if you can help in any way.
Spruce class showed fantastic commitment to their running during our Morgan's Mile run. It was a very fun event that the children enjoyed taking part in.
Spruce Class had a wonderful visit to Willows Farm. The weather was kind to us and the children had some wonderful experiences. We held a Guinea pig, fed the different animals, danced at the Lily Bobtail show and cheered our favourite sheep on during the sheep race. We were lucky enough to see 13 baby piglets that had been born overnight. Back at school we have been showing our commitment to our writing and have been writing about our day at the farm.
Willows Farm Trip
Spruce Class have enjoyed a fantastic World Book Day. We came dressed as our favourite characters, we read lots of books, Mr Rogers from Year 4 visited us to read some stories, and Year 6 Mrs Jackson's class came to read with us too. We showed great commitment to our reading.
World Book day
Every morning Spruce class start their day with a morning run. The children go out into the fresh air to run, walk or jog for 10 minutes. Mrs Robinson and Mrs Haywood exercise too! The run is aimed at improving the children's physical, social, emotional and mental health and wellbeing. It can also help children to focus and concentrate in the classroom and raise their attainment. This week we have been running in the playground because the grass has been very wet and muddy.
Spruce Class were very excited to have the Hertford Fire Brigade White Watch visit us today at school. This is part of our people who help us topic. We learned about how the Fire Brigade help us and they showed us their equipment and uniform. The most exciting part was being able to get into the fire truck!

We carried out a number of activities including talking about what makes a good friend, drawing pictures of being a good friend, having a good friend deed box and sorting picture cards into good friends/not good friends. At the end of the week every child received a Good Friend Award Certificate for being good friends.
