Each day the children learn through play, with carefully planned activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Children are free to explore the environment and resources, both inside and outside, whatever the weather!
We cover a variety of topics throughout the year, including Ourselves, Seasons, Christmas, Easter, Festivals, Stories & Rhymes and Minibeasts. We love to hear about the children’s interests and hobbies outside of Nursery and will plan activities to suit their interests wherever possible.
The children enjoy participating in activities with the rest of the school, including a Christmas production, Sports Day and the Morgans Mile. These activities help the children feel part of the school community and aid their transition into Reception.
We have been celebrating World Book Day. We had our friends from Year 4 come over it read with us. It was lovely to see everyone collaborating and sharing stories.
We enjoyed dressing up as our favourite story characters.
Chinese New Year
In Nursery we are looking forward to Chinese New Year. We have been developing our cutting skills by making lanterns and masks and we have been very creative decorating paper plates to make a dragon. We have a Chinese Restaurant in our role play area too.
We finally got to see our pantomime. It was great.
We enjoyed playing in the snow today. It was very cold but great fun.
In Nursery we talked about how we can get better at things. We talked about how our Learning Powers can help us. We know we need to keep trying to get better at things and have the confidence to keep trying.
We had a great time during book week and we have been working hard to develop our communication skills. We dressed up as our favourite story characters and talked about the story they are in. We went on the bus to look at the different books in the bus library and talked about them with our friends. We had different people come to visit us and share their favourite stories. It was great when year 3 came to talk to us about their favourite books.
In Nursery we have been finding out about autumn. We went on an autumn walk around the school grounds and looked for changes in the environment. We collected lots of different autumn things. We investigated the inside of a pumpkin and carefully collected the seeds ready for planting next year. We talked about how things are changing.
As part of Anti-bullying week we have been talking about how to be a good friend. We have been working together and sharing our ideas. We know we need to have 'Kind Hands' to be a good friend and we need to use 'Kind Words' too. We have been sharing our toys and helping each other if we feel sad.
Mrs Rocca came to visit.
Mrs Rocca came to visit the Nursery. We really enjoyed it when she read us 'The Gruffalo'. She did all the voices for the different characters.
