Mrs Lucas and her team of Year 1 and 2 bakers christened the new children's kitchen on Tuesday by baking 600 biscuits for all of the school. Mr Adam Bowden, from Borras Construction attended an assembly to enable the school to thank his company for their kind gift.   Junk Orchestra Nov 2010

This week Year 5 proved to be percussionary prodigies when Saul visited Morgans for a musical instrument junk modelling workshop. The classes were riveted by riveting, bonded well whilst bonding and saw wonder through sawing, whilst designing and constructing a range of different and imaginative instruments. After the mornings construction the children practised their percussionary skills under Saul's direction and generally displayed a good musical ear and senses of rhythm.

Year 3 Plastazote Workshop Oct 2010
This week Year 3 proved masked marvels as a result of a Plastazote workshop on Tuesday. They developed their design and construction skills using Greek mythology as the basis for their designs. They explained to the school how this thermoplastic material enabled them to mould it and glue additional mask parts. Medusa, the Minotaur, Aphrodite and even Hades were all present. The results are the stuff of legend and are proudly on display in the Year 3 corridor.

Year 4 All Creatures Great and Small June 2010

Year 4 are making animal shelters for a 'mini-mammal' and so on Wednesday, for first hand experience, met a hedgehog, a tortoise and a chinchilla. They had the opportunity to ask questions about the habitats and welfare conditions required. Thank you to Emma and Hannah, from The Chestnut's Veterinary Surgery for their time. Year 4 now need to bring in any necessary materials from which to make their shelters.

  Lego Legends May 2010

Year 1 and 2 had a great morning using lego earlier in the week:

"At our lego workshop Year 1 and Year 2 had lots of fun making a lego city. The Year 2's even made them light up by using electric circuits. We also made a train track with a great big bridge going over. "

  Year 5 are well K-nex-ted Feb 2010

On 26 th February 2010 Dave Evans came to Year 5 to judge a K'nex challenge.

He brought in lots of boxes of K'nex so we could make things. Mr Cordingley put us into pairs and each pair was given a box of k'nex. The challenge was to make a windmill out of the K'nex, but not any old windmill. The windmill was for King Arthur and it had to be at least as high as the long side of a piece of A4 paper. There had to be a door, a platform, four sails that had to be able to turn round and a handle for King Arthur to turn. All the class spent a happy hour constructing the models. After an hour we hurried to perfect our windmills but our time was up. Dave came round and scored the models. We went out to play and when we returned Dave announced the winners.

IT WAS US!!!, but only by one point! We were so happy even though it's the taking part that matters. We (that's everyone who took part) will each get a certificate. A photo of our windmill has been sent off to be judged against windmills from other schools in Hertfordshire. We all agree it was a truly fun experience and hope that Dave can come again soon. Thank you to him for the event.
